about

This is an album that I have been working on for the entirety of 2013. The concept behind the album is that there is a variety of very different styles, genres, and themes within a single record. These range from acoustic folk with a whaling blues harp, to massive distorted guitars shredding with an early punk/classic rock flavor, to jangley and mellow electric guitars mixed with huge synth-filled shoegaze breaks, to delicious electronic bass biscuits served up fresh and hot by yours truly, the Tophmobile.

Track Name: A Simple Life
If I could live out here until the day I died that'd be alright
Because I'd have no one to fight against me
You know all too well that I can be worn down
When I've done all that I can do

I live in a cabin in the mountains,
far away from all the injustice that plagues mankind
I will not go back where I came from,
It's a place far from my heart,
and I've been gone for far too long of a time

If I could live out here until the day I died that'd be alright
Because I'd have no one to fight against me
You know all too well that I can be worn down
When I've seen all I can see & I've done all that I can do

One hot summer evening
a young fool came wandering through my back yard
he asked me if I knew a place
that would give him everything that he needs
and would heal all of his scars
I told him turn around and go home or else he never will
But he did not heed my warning,
he just kept walking right over that hill

You ask me where it is I come from
You ask me what it is I do
Would you believe me if I told you I was cursed with every man's wildest dream

I wouldn't want to live forever
because I would see you all run out of time
Even after all this time,
folks just like him come and go without seeing how worn down I am
No they do not learn from me,
though I've seen all I can see & I've done all that I can do
Track Name: Claustrophobia
I'm feeling awfully enclosed inside of this place
I'm feeling terribly confined inside of these walls

I feel as if a new persona is being taken on
I feel as if somebody else is stepping right into my shoes

I know that I could stand to live if you knew what give
I know that I could stand to die if you knew how to try

Feeling the breeze run through my hair and wondering if you are there
Somewhere, through all this moving air thinking what I did wasn't fair
Track Name: Bright
You always catch my eye when you walk in the room
Whenever we converse, I feel uplifted
And when we're holding hands my heart starts racing
I thought I would get closure but nothing has changed

I can't get you out of my head.
I just feel so bright when you're around
I can't get you out of my head.
I feel so empty now

"I hope this doesn't change anything," you told me
You have such Beautiful Hypocrisy
But how quickly all these qualities are lost
when you are seen by me

Your shoulders are so warm in the sun
I love sitting here watching you sing
Track Name: Nomads
You look around and you see
all the things that could be
part of your end
You're wondering what started this war
You don't want it anymore
You don't want to live in fear

Looking for sanctuary, someplace new to go
It could be right around the corner, you never know

You look around and you see
all the things that could be
part of your end
I see the big Mississippi River don't you flood on me,
Put your loving aside and take your lovers inside
Hey Mississippi don't you flood on me

Hey Mississippi River don't you flood on me
Track Name: Untitled
You came from out of nowhere
You seemed to be so incredibly distinct
You walked so easily into my life
Easy come, easy go; I know this can not be the end.

I have high hopes
I know that this can not be the end
You walked so easily
in and back out with such grace

I can't hear you underneath the waves
I see water running down your face
Four days since we've had two whole fucking days
When you first caught my eye
Do you feel the sand surrounding your feet?
Do you hear the wind carry you to me?
Do you feel the salt drying out your skin?
Do you hear our voices locking in?

I've arrived at an impasse
I've shown up here way too damn fast
I don't know where the time has gone
Two whole years could have gone so wrong

I can't hear you underneath the waves
I see water running down your face
Seven days since we've had two whole fucking days
When you first caught my eye
Do you feel the sand surrounding your feet?
Do you hear the wind carry you to me?
Do you feel the salt drying out your skin?
Do you hear our voices locking in?

I've arrived at an impasse
I've shown up here way too damn fast
I don't know where the time has gone
Two whole years could have gone so wrong

Track Name: Storms
You wander in my head from time to time
Yes you still sit and dwell inside my mind
Even though I could never call you mine
I knew that I was right

I thought this was long gone but even now
I think about you and I don't know how
You did not see what I saw but I find
I knew that I was right

I just don't know what to do
I just don't know what to say
I just don't know where to go
You would not want me there anyway

This storm is gonna kill us all
This storm is gonna kill us all
I'm looking for someone to call my own
I will regret this more than you will know

I can not break you
I can't find out what's going on
inside of your head
I don't even know if something is wrong

Here you are now on top of the earth
Looking back, you are questioning its worth
You've lost your innocence, you've lost your light
I knew that I was right
